Susan Grimmer admitted the thefts, which took place on December 19 and 21 last year, when she appeared before Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 28.
It had been alleged that Grimmer, 38, of Main Street, Huthwaite, had stolen £700 from the owner of the Anchor Fish and Kebab Shop, in South Normanton, and a Newton Hearing – a special court session to determine whose version of events is true – was set to take place.

Prosecuting, Becky Allsop told the court: “Some money had gone missing from his wallet and he had installed CCTV. On both occasions he witnessed her going into his wallet and taking the money.
“He said that £650 had been taken on one occasion and £50 on the other, but she said that she had only taken a total of £205 and the owner has not attended today.”
Grimmer admitted two counts of theft by an employee when she appeared before the court.

District Judge Jonathan Taaffe sentenced her to an eight-week curfew and ordered her to pay £205 in compensation.
He said: “I accept you were having financial difficulties, but it is no excuse to steal from someone who had invested trust in you.”
