Pair arrested on drugs offences after car stopped in Sutton

Officers surrounded the vehicle in Stoneyford Road shortly after 10.20am on Tuesday.
After searching the occupants of the car, police discovered around 100 wraps of what is believed to be cocaine and heroin.

Hide AdA hammer, a scythe and a small quantity of cannabis were also recovered.
A 33-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and remain in police custody.
Inspector Ben Lawrence, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This intelligence-led stop led to the discovery of a sizable amount of what we believe to be a mixture of heroin and cocaine.
“It is the latest in a growing line of drug recoveries from vehicles we’ve pulled over and will certainly not be the last.

Hide Ad“Locally we have been granted some additional resources to prevent violent crime and have been working proactively with the force’s knife crime team to proactively stop and search people we believe may be carrying weapons or drugs.
“We won’t tolerate the supply of illegal drugs on our streets and will continue to maintain this level of pressure.
“The good news is that the number of local police officers will continue increase thanks to a national uplift in numbers.
“A dedicated neighbourhood team will also be deployed in the area in October as part of Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Reacher programme, which is being rolled out across the county to tackle organised criminality and drug-related crime.”
