Foodbank event at Mansfield’s King George V Park

Nottinghamshire County Council and their waste contractor Veolia is inviting people to bring along a donation for their local food bank as part of its Love Food Hate Waste campaign.

sd The Love Food Hate Waste Feed the 1,000 challenge was created to show how 1,000 people can be fed on the average amount of food a family wastes a year – a shocking £700.

A collection will be taken at Mansfield’s King George V Park on 1st June between 11am–3pm.

Ideal items for donation are tinned, dried goods food of any kind, or toiletries.

Kevin Parker, Regional Communications Manager for Veolia Environmental Services, said: “Events such as the Love Food Hate Waste Feed the 1,000 challenges are a great way of encouraging people to learn new culinary skills and be more experimental with their cooking.

“They also help households to save food and money and support local foodbanks ”

The events are open to all Nottinghamshire residents. Entry is free and the 1,000 lunches are also provided free of charge.
