A Kirkby pub has won acclaim for the quality and standards of its toilets – in the Loo of the Year Awards 2022.

The Regent, on the corner of Kingsway and Diamond Avenue, has been awarded a platinum rating.

The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of ‘away from home’ toilet provisions across the UK.

Awards inspectors visited thousands of toilets across the UK, in order to judge them.

Toilets are judged against numerous criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management, and graded silver, gold, platinum, platinum plus or diamond, with unacceptable toilets ungraded.

Craig Stonier, The Regent manager, said: “We are delighted. Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in excellent condition at all times and it is great this has been recognised.”

Becky Wall, awards managing director, said: “The toilets at The Regent have been designed and fitted out to a high standard and are clean and well maintained.”
