9. Colin Gunn
Crime lord Gunn ran a vast empire from the Bestwood estate where he grew up was was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2006, with a minimum of 35 years, after conspiring to murder John and Joan Stirland. It was aimed as revenge for the death of his nephew, Jamie Gunn, who died aged 19 on August 2, 2004. 10. James Brodie
A small player in the Gunn crime empire, Brodie is widely believed to be the person who fired the gun that killed Nottingham jeweller Marian Bates in 2003. His accomplice Peter Williams was later found guilty of her murder but Brodie vanished shortly after the botched robbery. Police say that all of the evidence suggests he is dead. Photo: Notts Police
11. Paul Hutchinson
Hutchinson abducted 16-year-old Colette Aram in 1983 as she was walking to her boyfriend's house, bundling her into a stolen Ford Fiesta. He then sexually assaulted her and strangled her. Despite the case being the first to ever feature on the BBC Crimewatch show, he was not jailed until 2009, following advances in DNA technology. He took his own life in prison the following year.
