VIDEO: Club’s vital services for older people
Mr Duncan Smith attended the Cornwater Club, in Main Road, at the invitation of Sherwood MP Mark Spencer on Thursday 13th February, and spent the morning talking to members.
The visit came just days after Chad revealed that the club may be forced to cut its services unless it can raise £25,000 in local donations.

Hide AdClub member Beryl Hind said, “I’ve been coming to the club for 12 years, since my husband died. The club is everything to me, it is my opportunity to make friends and take part in activities, it stops us from feeling lonely. It would be a terrible shame if it had to close”
In our video interview, Pam Weightman, director and volunteer at the club, talks of its importance to people who attend.
The club offers friendship and activities for older people in communities including Ravenshead, Rainworth and Blidworth.
Mr Spencer said: “We must do everything we can to spread the word about how fantastic this club is and to encourage new members to join.”
Mr Duncan Smith added: “The club is a fantastic community asset and I greatly enjoyed the visit.”
