Furious manager Rudy Funk pulled no punches after his AFC Mansfield side crashed to a 4-1 defeat at home to Lincoln United in Division One East of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

The Bulls matched their opponents in almost all areas of the pitch during the Bank Holiday Monday fixture, but were let down by major defensive errors.

Funk blasted: “It’s unacceptable to make such horrendous mistakes at this level. We will have to take it on the chin and move on.

“You have to give a lot of credit to Lincoln, who put themselves about. But when you give goals away the way we did, you don’t deserve to win.

“There were a lot of positives with the substitutes we sent on, but it was very disappointing from some of the guys who started the game.”

Lincoln took the lead when full-back Scott Matthews was gifted a free header, and things got worse for AFC as Kieran Wells missed a penalty and they conceded again on the stroke of half-time when Jon D’Laryea’s mis-hit clearance led to a goal from Thomas Garrick.

Another defensive blunder allowed Kevin Hemagou to head home from a corner and although Lynton Karkach pulled one back for the Bulls, Lincoln were condemned to further misery when Mark Dudley scored an own goal from another flagkick.
