Mansfield Town expecting 'incredibly tough' match against League One new boys Bromley, says Nigel Clough
Mansfield Town will be looking to get back to winning ways in League One this weekend but Nigel Clough does not expect it to be an easy task.
The Stags boss anticipates an ‘incredibly tough game’ on Saturday as newly-promoted Bromley make the trip to the One Call Stadium.
Mansfield enter the clash following a disappointing midweek display in the Jersey Mike’s Trophy. A 2-0 defeat against Port Vale means Stags are now out of the competition, with bitter rivals Chesterfield still to play.
Clough admitted he found his side’s efforts at Vale Park ‘hard to watch’ as Stags’ away form continues to raise questions.

Mansfield Town have picked up just one point on the road so far this League One season, but they remain unbeaten at home. That’s something the manager is well aware of.
“We need to continue our good home form. At the moment, on the road, we don’t look capable of getting a result,” Clough said after the Port Vale defeat.
Stags’ 2026/27 season has been rather stop-start so far and Clough is not expecting an easy run out against Bromley. The Ravens were crowned champions of League Two last season and earned their promotion into League One for the first time in their history.
So far, Andy Woodman’s side have picked up eight points from two wins and two draws, the same as Mansfield Town.
“Bromley had a bit of an up-and-down start but getting used to the level is a big thing for where they’ve come from,” Clough continued. “It’s absolutely remarkable to come up through the leagues and find themselves competing in League One.”
Saturday will see former Mansfield Town players Victor Adeboyejo and Owen Mason return to the One Call. Mason made the move to Bromley last month to pursue more regular first team minutes, while Adeboyejo joined the Ravens as a free agent following his summer release.
